HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 4 (acn) On the occasion of the 58th anniversary of the creation of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) of Cuba, marked on December 2, Joao Gonzalves, Angola's Minister of Defense, sent a note of congratulations to the Cuban army.
The note was issued by the state news agency Angop, as reported on Thursday by Prensa Latina (PL).
The message also thanks the Cuban people for its support in the preservation of Angola's independence and sovereignty.
Gonzalvez expressed his wish to maintain relations of mutual respect with Cuba, and of establishing increasingly fraternal, warm and strong bonds.
The FAR, headed by Army Corps General Leopoldo Cintra Frias, were created on December 2, 1961, in honor of the landing (on the same day of 1956) of the Granma Yacht in Las Coloradas with 82 expedition members determined to struggle against the Fulgencio Batista dictatorship.
