Egypt and Cuban central province define collaboration fields

SANCTI SPIRITUS, Cuba, Feb 20 (ACN) Establishing collaboration with the central province of Sancti Spiritus in tourism, agriculture and water resources was a proposal made by Maher El-Adawy, ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Cuba, when he visited this city today.

The diplomat of the Afro-Asian country also suggested to government authorities of the territory that welcomed him to celebrate the national holiday of his country (July 23) in the city of Sancti Spiritus; the festivity, he said in the exchange, could be held in the context of the commemoration of the founding of the former village of Espiritu Santos (June 4), which this year will reach its 509th anniversary.

During the exchange, the ambassador learned about the general characteristics of this region and was informed about the situation faced by the water supply to the population in the cities of Sancti Spiritus and Trinidad, affected in this service, given the heavy drought currently being experienced.

The ambassador, accompanied by his wife, visited the Casa de la Guayabera museum, a cultural center turned into a community project, to which the visitor donated a piece of clothing to swell this fund, which already holds more than 180 guayaberas donated by personalities from politics, culture, sports and other facets of social life from different parts of the world.

El-Adawy also gave a flag of his country to La Taberna recreational center, as a symbol of the friendship between Cuba and Egypt, whose diplomatic relations date back to 1949; since then both countries have shown important achievements in terms of political agreement and exchange in dissimilar fields of mutual interest, particularly in the fields of culture and education.
