Cuban experts to participate in European event on gender equality

 HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 7 (ACN) The Technical Committee for Standardization (CTN by its Spanish acronym) of Cuba on Gender Equality invited its members to participate virtually in the meeting of the group of specialists in sensitive standards of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE-UN).

The sessions of the meeting will be held tomorrow at the headquarters of that group, based in Geneva, Switzerland, the Cuban News Agency was informed by the CTN presidency, which is closely related to national initiatives to increase its equity.

One of its essential topics will be the Guide for the elaboration of standards with a gender perspective.

The Technical Committee for Standardization on Gender Equality was created in March 2022, under the presidency of Nancy Fernandez Rodriguez, PhD in science and Director General of the National Office of Standardization, and composed mostly of professionals from her own institution.

Its formation is a contribution to the fulfillment of policies that promote equal rights between men and women, especially with the Action Plan and Measures of the National Program for the Advancement of Women.

Created in 1947 by the UN Economic and Social Council, the UNECE/UN is one of its five regional commissions and is composed of 56 member states from the European Union, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the United States, Canada and Israel.
