Diaz-Canel attends ceremony marking 60th anniversary of the General Customs of the Republic

 HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 3 (ACN) With the presence of Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CCPCC) and president of the country, the official ceremony marking the 60th anniversary of the founding of the General Customs of the Republic began at this moment.

The activity held in the Universal Hall of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) was also attended by Manuel Marrero Cruz, member of the Political Bureau of the CCPCC and Cuban Prime Minister, and other representatives of the State, the Government, the FAR and the Ministry of the Interior.

Customs in Cuba is an agency of control at the border and inspection in the activity related to Foreign Trade.

Among other missions, it is responsible for detecting and combating drug trafficking, terrorism and smuggling, as well as protecting the population, national industry and the environment, for which reason it must apply controls on persons and goods entering or leaving the country.
