Merit for Life awarded to friend of Cuba’s

SANTIAGO DE CUBA, Cuba, Feb 1 (ACN) The Government of the province of Santiago de Cuba awarded the Merit for Life distinction to Emilio Lambiase, president of the Armando Hart Dávalos Circle of the Italian section of the José Martí Cultural Society and the Cuba-Salermo Friendship Association for his contribution to the fight against COVID-19.

Lambiase thanked the local authorities for the recognition and recalled the moment when he decided to write a letter to Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro to acknowledge the achievements of the revolutionary work to liberate the oppressed and provide them with better living conditions.

He said that in Cuba he discovered a system of principles with which he identifies, met communist brothers and sisters, and learned the values of solidarity with family and friends no matter how little or how much one has. Likewise, he stressed that the Cuban people and its leaders will always be able to count on his support and reasserted his love for the homeland of Martí, Fidel and Che.

Established on December 28, 2021, the Merit for Life Award recognizes individuals and groups that contributed to the containment of COVID-19 in region of eastern Cuba.
