HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 17 (ACN) Cuba currently has 60 children's homes, an option for the care of children that is spreading in the country, allowing the increase of early childhood care, the head of the Ministry of Education ( MINED), Ena Elsa Velazquez Cobiella emphasized.
In the national territory, more than 1,900 children are attended in the "casitas infantiles", a type of educational attention to early childhood conceived because the country does not have enough children's day-care centers to attend the existing demand.
The minister detailed, to illustrate this situation, that there are 42,000 pending requests from working parents that have not been satisfied.
For this reason, MINED regulates the opening and operation of the children's centers in workplaces, which must provide the funds for their maintenance and sustainability, as well as take responsibility for the selection of the premises, furniture and material resources required.
For its part, the ministry guarantees the material basis of study, as well as the educational attention to the children, with educators and pedagogical assistants graduated in the specialty of Early Childhood.
