HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 13 (ACN) It was a surprise that this session, which would have been essentially celebratory, turned into a very substantive discussion, Cuban foreign minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla said, after Cuba assumed the Pro-Tempore Presidency of the Group of 77 + China.
From the United Nations headquarters, the foreign minister made statements, through the Facebook channel of that organization, on the challenges that Cuba will face at the head of the G77 in this new stage.
The minister described the election of Cuba to the presidency of the body as a recognition and a commitment.
Speaking about the lines of work for 2023, he said that a constructive and firm position will be promoted in the intergovernmental processes that will take place in fields such as sustainable development, climate change, water resources and those related to the Millennium Development Goals.
He also explained that important international events related to international order and intellectual debate, as well as education and culture, among others, will be held.
