Meeting of Chilean and Cuban foreign affair ministries concluded

HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 11 (ACN) Cuba and Chile held in this city the 6th Meeting of the Political Consultation Mechanism, according to the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX).

Chaired by Josefina Vidal Ferreiro, MINREX deputy minister, and Ximena Fuentes Torrijo, undersecretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Chile, the meeting covered various issues of bilateral interest and identified areas with potential to advance in strengthening relations.

Both parties also discussed regional and international challenges, the importance of maintaining regional unity, and a number of actions to promote bilateral cooperation and boost economic, commercial, cultural, and sports ties between the two countries. In addition, MINREX brought its Chilean counterpart on the current situation of the country and the impact of the U.S. blockade on the Cuban people.

Chile has always voted in favor of the United Nations General Assembly resolution demanding an end to the blockade.
