Major oil refinery in central Cuba marks its 15th anniversary

CIENFUEGOS, Cuba, Dec 21 (ACN) The Cienfuegos Oil Refinery, in the province of the same name, reached 15 years of reactivation with high efficiency and safety in the processing of crude oil to obtain its products, including gasoline, diesel and fuel oil.

During the celebration of the new anniversary, Irenaldo Perez Cardoso, general manager of the industry, said that during these three decades they have processed more than 33 million tons of crude oil of different qualities and more than 660 tankers have been unloaded at the docks of the Cienfuegos processing plant.

He added that they have carried out many important projects, such as the recovery and preparation of the atmospheric distillation, gas fractionation and catalytic reforming units.

Likewise, the executive explained, they completed the new catalytic reforming catalyzer, the construction of storage for 80,000 cubic meters (m3) and the repair of fuel tanks with more than 400,000 m3.

All this, emphasized Perez Cardoso, provided us with tools for an efficient operation, with significant savings and higher performance.

The commemoration was attended by Maryde Fernandez Lopez, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and first secretary in Cienfuegos, and Governor Alexandre Corona Quintero; along with Raul Perez de Prado, director of oil and gas of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, and Otoniel Muñoz Delgado, deputy director of the Cuba Petroleum Union, among other authorities.
