Cuban students advocate for formation of critic and revolutionary university students

 HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 20 (ACN) We must form in Cuban universities students with conscious criticism, able to identify problems and join the transforming force of the national reality, said today Karla Santana Rodriguez, president of the Federation of University Students (FEU).

During the plenary session of the 10th Congress of the organization, which today celebrates its centenary, Santana Rodriguez pointed out the importance of the prevalence of popular knowledge, anti-colonialist and anti-imperialist values, and the sensitivity for the struggle of the humble as a common cause.

In the presence of Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Cuban communist party and president of the country, the 300 delegates discussed the actions of the FEU and the agreements debated in the six commissions of the student assembly, which has been taking place since December 17.

Alejandro Sanchez, coordinator of Social Impact of the organization, urged to reflect on the revolutionary and popular character of the university as the only way to destroy walls of elitism and improve the internal functioning.

Josefina Prosponer, also a delegate to the event, stressed the need to plan a student census, strengthen conscious mobilization in the main tasks demanded by the country and promote community work.

Xiomi Giraldo Ramos, a Colombian student studying medicine in Cuba, expressed her commitment to the FEU and her gratitude for the opportunity for personal improvement that arose from the internationalist actions promoted by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.

The foreigners who studied in Cuba will reproduce this knowledge in our nations and will always support the Cuban people wherever we are, she said.

During the meeting, held at the Havana Convention Center, Santana Rodriguez also explained that from May to December 2022, discussions were held from the brigade to the highest level, which resulted in more than 10,000 proposals and 2,243 agreements, 76 of which were of national level.

The 10th Congress of the FEU concludes today, after three days of hard work and activities, including an anti-imperialist rally and visits to neighborhoods under transformation.
