HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 20 (ACN) During the last day of the 10th Congress of the Federation of University Students (FEU), the results of the elections for the new national secretariat of the organization, which commemorates its 100th anniversary of its founding, were announced today.
As president for this next period, the members elected Julio Emilio Morejon Perez, a student of foreign languages at the University of Pinar del Rio, and Ricardo Rodriguez Gonzalez, from the University Of Medical Sciences Of Camaguey, as vice president.
In the presence of Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Cuban communist party (CC-PCC) and president of the country, the permanent and non-permanent structures of the secretariat were announced in representation of the 40 universities of the country and its 130,000 students.
As part of the plenary session, the delegates debated key points on the actions of the organization and the agreements reached in the work of the congress commissions.
The meeting was also attended by Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz; Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdes Menendez and Commander of the Rebel Army Jose Ramon Machado Ventura.
