Cuban Top Communist Leader Addresses Major Issues of Cuban Society

 Havana, Dec 9 (ACN) Cuba’s Communist Party Organization Secretary and member of the party’s Politburo Roberto Morales addressed participants at the 5th Plenary Session of the political organization on Friday stressing the country’s complex social and economic scenario.

The Communist leader explained that the Cuban peoples endure an complex panorama stemming from the impact of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade, which was strengthened with a series of sanctions adopted by the former US Trump administration and maintained by the Joe Biden government.

According to the Party’s Twitter account, the party official mentioned the Cuban struggle against COVID-19, the instability of the local electric system, the recent accidents in Havana hotel and a mass fire at an oil depot in western Matanzas province, along with the ravaging passage of hurricane Ian on Cuba’s western region.

Morales Ojeda said that Cuba is facing an increase of minor crime, social indiscipline and a large migration of youths and professionals, whose figures surpasses previous exoduses.

He insisted in the attention to the young people, the students in particular, those who are dropouts and persons who are considered as vulnerable, as well as the non-state economic sector.

The Party organization secretary referred to the need to accompany the transformation of the Cuban media so that they improve their role, and also the programs to attend to the needs of the University of Arts and the National Ballet of Cuba.

He also addressed the country’s public health programs including the improvement of services, the trade of drugs, and the impact of healthcare human resources by the current migration of professionals of the sector, medical cooperation.

Morales Ojeda also tackled other issues of crucial importance for the country on his report.

The 5th Plenary Session of the Cuban Communist Party’s Central Committee concludes Saturday after considering crucial issues for Cuban society.
