Ibero-American Organization Opens Permanent Office in Cuba

Havana, Nov 28 (ACN) The Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture(OEI) https://bit.ly/3VzDRJ7 opened its permanent office in this city capital in an step towards increasing joint cooperation.

OEI general secretary Mariano Jabonero told ACN that the opening of the office makes justice in favor of Cuba, which is permanently committed to the organization’s projects with valuable contribution.

The new office will allow to consolidate and expand cooperation in the areas of education, science and culture in the benefit of the Cuban people, the executive said as he noted that main projects focus on the training of teachers of information technologies and distance education.

Education Minister Ena Elsa Velazquez said that the Cuban government shares with the OEI an interest in having the organization’s permanent office here, which can boost and diversify multilateral cooperation lines and strengthen links with the local scientific, education and cultural community.

Velazquez ratified her government’s commitment to the 2030 Agenda and noted that the member states of the Ibero-American organization must increasingly invest in its priority areas, which are the pillars of peace and sustainable development.

The Cuban Education minister and the OEI general secretary cut the ribbon to open the office in the Havana municipality of Playa. The Ibero-American organization now counts with 19 office in this region of the world.

In a recent message to the general assembly of the OEI, Cuban President said that the decision to open an office in Cuba marks the beginning of a new and higher stage of work.
