HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 10 (acn) Cubans in this southern territory recalled the nearly four thousand victims of a hurricane that hit the island on November 9, 1932, considered the strongest natural disaster ever.
The people gathered at the local cemetery to pay tribute to the victims of the storm, which after heading west turned north northeast threatening this locality in the eastern province of Camaguey with 222-kilometer-per hour winds.
Huge floods occurred in the low-lying areas as the storm became a five-category hurricane, whose damage and number of victims remains in the memory of the Cuban people.
