Cuban electric power system continues suffering damages

 HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 30 (ACN) The Cuban Electric Company (UNE by its Spanish acronym) reported today that at 7:00 a.m., 862 megawatts (MW) were affected, of which 557 MW in provinces from Pinar del Rio to Mayabeque as a result of the damage caused by Hurricane Ian.

At the moment, it is estimated that the electric service will continue being affected by a deficit in generation capacity throughout the day from Matanzas province to Guantanamo.

However, in the western provinces the service will be restored as the damages caused by Hurricane Ian are reestablished, it added.

On Thursday at 18:25 hours, the isolated systems of the western and eastern regions were synchronized and the National Electric System operated as an integrated system.
