HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 6 (ACN) Cuba and Italy signed today, in Havana, the terms of reference of the cooperation project Avenida Italia, for the local valorization and support to circular economies in that emblematic Havana street.
Representatives of the Government of Havana, the Council of the Municipal Administration of Centro Habana; and Unioncamere Piemonte and the Italian Agency of Cooperation for Development (AICS), for the European nation, signed the agreement that officializes the actions for the development of Galiano Street, as Avenida de Italia is known.
Roberto Vellano, ambassador of that country to Cuba, explained that the agreement is part of a broad cooperation program between the two countries, mainly in the recovery of heritage and agriculture, to which is now added the urban regeneration of an important commercial avenue in Havana.
The pact represents the formalization of two years of work between Cuba and Italy to accompany the process of integral recovery of Centro Habana, contributing to the enhancement of its architectural and urban image, and to promote the growth of new economic and social actors.
The ceremony was attended by Mai Lin Alberty Arozarena, first secretary of the Municipal Committee of the Cuban communist party in Centro Habana; Juan Rodolfo Nohaya, intendant of the municipal administration council in Centro Habana; Alberto Festa, director of the AICS headquarters in the capital, and other officials from the ministry of foreign trade and the national association of economists and accountants of Cuba.
