HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 31 (acn) The minister of state of the United Kingdom's Foreign Ministry, Hugo Swire stressed the significance of three memorandums of understanding signed with Havana in the areas of sports, diplomatic relations and trade.
Swire said that his visit to Cuba reveals Britain's support of the economic transformations underway on the island and he expressed his interest in the visit here by members of the British business community.
During an official ceremony in Havana, on Thursday, Cuban deputy Foreign Trade minister Antonio Carricarte and Hugo Swire signed documents to help promote bilateral commerce and joint work in sectors like tourism, agriculture, energy, infrastructure and sciences.
With the signing of the documents, the two countries state that bilateral cooperation will be marked by reciprocity, mutual benefit and their commitment to principles of international law, the UN Charter and the Human Rights Declaration.
