HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 29 (acn) The 5th International Workshop on Childhood, Adolescence and Youth: Social Integration and Sustainable Development began at the capital's Riviera Hotel, the Granma newspaper reported on Wednesday.
One of the objectives of the meeting, which started on Tuesday and will run until Friday, is to generate the forward-looking approach wanted for people of these age brackets, taking into account the contribution of social studies on the issue to guide possible actions.
Maria Isabel Dominguez, coordinator of the Group of Youth Studies, pointed out that societies are presently strained between the demands of an aging population and the new generations looking for their space in complex and uncertain scenarios.
The analysis of epistemological and methodological approaches to study childhood, adolescence and youth; and youth diversity and its cultural, socio-structural, political and economical dimensions are among topics to tackle during the meeting.
Other aspects under debate will be the subjectivity of these persons; public policies towards them, and their socialization processes.
