Cuban westernmost province reported heavy local thunderstorms
According to a report sent to the Cuban News Agency by Humberto Raul Acosta Gonzalez, specialist of the Provincial Meteorological Center, the rainfall was accompanied by hail and strong linear winds, which were combined in some places with the occurrence of heavy rain and significant electrical activity.
The information added that there was a maximum wind gust of 56 kilometers per hour (km/h) and an accumulated rainfall of 51.7 millimeters, of which 51.1 in six hours.
The situation was associated with the strong instability generated by an upper cold low over the Bahamas, in combination with the strong surface warming, local factors and other favorable conditions in the upper air.
