YAGUAJAY, Sancti Spiritus, Cuba, Oct 28 (acn) The death of Camilo Cienfuegos 55 years ago was remembered on Tuesday with a ceremony in the place where the legendary Commander of the Rebel Army carried out his last combat against forces of the Fulgencio Batista dictatorship.
The Historic Complex named after the late Commander in this city was the place selected to pay tribute to Camilo.
Rose buds were placed in each tomb at the Mausoleum of the Northern Front of Las Villas which keep the mortal remains of combatants of that troop fallen in the Liberation War or after the triumph of the Revolution, as well as in others referring to mortal remains of persons that for various reasons could not the recovered.
Odalys Hernandez, deputy director of the Historic Complex, told ACN that a guard of honor by students of the Camilo Cienfuegos Military School of Sancti Spiritus province was also part of the patriotic-cultural meeting.
Participants in the commemoration deposited flowers in the artificial lake of this emblematic site, a tribute paid every year by the Cuban people to the Hero of Yaguajay, who died at sea on October 28, 1959.
