Cuban president called to boost popular participation

HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 22 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel urged to strengthen popular participation in the search for local development solutions and to keep protecting socialism, working hard and promoting the exemplarity of cadres in a message that he posted on the occasion of his meeting with municipal People's Power leaders, who reported about the visits of permanent working commissions to several provinces to check the implementation of measures for the benefit of the population, as well as the existing local potential and needs of resources.

As to the Economy and State Budget Plan, Díaz-Canel said that it should be based on science and innovation and be consistent with the efforts to solve the main problems of, and bring profits to, the provinces and to facilitate taxation.

He also stressed the need that the Plan be in line with the questions raised by the citizens, the provision of services to vulnerable sectors and to young people, and the food sovereignty and nutrition education programs, among other issues.
