Cuban Physicians Arrive in Liberia to Fight EbolaHAVANA, Cuba, Oct 22 (acn) an aircraft with 51 Cuban physicians and nurses on board landed in Liberia to help treating Ebola victims in that country of Western Africa, where a U.S. military mission is also deployed to fight the lethal virus, according to Reuters.

The airplane landed at the Roberts International Airport of Monrovia, the capital. Another group of about 40 physicians of the Caribbean island was expected to arrive in neighboring Guinea on Wednesday morning.

Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Liberia, said he was delighted with the arrival of the physicians and that he hoped this cooperation contributes to make his country's health services stronger.

The worst outbreak of Ebola in history has already killed over 4,500 people, most of them in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.

On Monday Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf said that if an urgent action was not concreted, Western Africa risked losing an entire generation due to the virus.

Cuba has already sent 165 Medicine professionals to neighboring Sierra Leone.
