Cuban central province conducts national employment survey

SANTA CLARA, Cuba, May 24 (ACN) With the aim of quantifying and characterizing the working population in the province, the National Office of Statistics and Information (ONEI by its Spanish acronym) in Villa Clara is carrying out the National Occupation Survey, an initiative to be completed by June 30.

The enumeration -initiated last May 3- will count, as main method, with the interview, which will be carried out in a personalized way with each of the members of the household.

Orialy Alvarez Hernández, ONEI's director in the territory, told the press that the sample to be worked, in the case of Villa Clara, is included in its thirteen municipalities, where there is a total of 297 districts (207 urban and 90 rural) and 4,260 dwellings.

The director also commented that the population to be characterized is between 15 years of age or older, and the main objective is to know their demographic, social and economic characteristics, particularly their employment situation.

This research will make it possible, she concluded, to obtain and analyze indicators such as the employment rate (both at the national level and by territory) and the classification of the economically active population, which are fundamental for making decisions on social and economic policies.

The data obtained, in addition to establishing international positions in terms of employment and unemployment rates, will ensure the harmonization of labor market statistics in the region.
