Cuba Backs Nicaragua Decision to Withdraw from the OAS

Havana, April 26 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel ratified on his Twitter account his support of the Nicaraguan government decision to leave the Organization of American States.

Nicaragua’s withdrawal of the inter-American organization was described by the Cuban President as a new lesson of dignity.

Also on Twitter, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez expressed Cuba’s support of the firm and legitimate decision by Nicaragua’s Government of Reconciliation and National Unity to take distance from the OAS and the Summit of the Americas.

On Sunday, Nicaragua’s Foreign Minister Denis Moncada announced the shutdown of the OAS offices in Nicaragua and the return of Nicaraguan representatives at the regional organization due to interference-oriented actions by the OAS.

Moncada described the OAS a mechanism sponsoring and promoting interference and invasions in the region and legitimizing coups; an organization that does not represent the sovereign union of Caribbean and Latin American nations, on the contrary, it constitute a tool of domination in the interest of the United States.
