HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 13 (ACN) Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz evoked today on Twitter the 61st anniversary of the terrorist act against the store El Encanto in Havana, an event in which the employee Fe del Valle Ramos lost her life.
Aylín Álvarez García, First Secretary of the National Committee of the Young Communist League, also recalled the date on the same social network, describing as regrettable the April 13, 1961 sabotage plan against the largest department store in Cuba.
"The walls of the blazing building collapsed and Fe del Valle, an employee of the children’s department who went into the store to try and save the people’s goods, burned to death in the premises," she wrote.
El Encanto was set on fire by Carlos González Vidal, an employee hired by the counterrevolutionary organization Movimiento Revolucionario del Pueblo (MRP) who place three bombs inside the building.
It is estimated that the economic losses as a result of the sabotage amounted to 20 million dollars.
