HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 18 (ACN) Cuban ambassador to Italy, Mirta Granda Averhoff, confirmed today that the island will continue working constructively for the strengthening of relations between Latin America and the European country.
A statement issued by the Cuban foreign ministry in Rome said that during the first session of the Council of Delegates of the International Italo-Latin American Organization (IILA), the diplomat was welcomed as the new representative of the Caribbean island.
The Council of Delegates is IILA's main decision-making body and is made up of 21 delegates: 20 from Latin American countries and Haiti, the Italian representative, a Secretary General and an Executive Director.
According to the information, ambassador Granda Averhoff held a meeting with Roberto Melgarejo Palacios, ambassador of the Republic of Paraguay and president of IILA.
During the meeting, they discussed issues of common interest and reaffirmed the importance of Latin American and Caribbean unity.
