Matanzas, Cuba, Jan 26 (ACN) The funding by the local companies and the municipal governments of scientific, technological and innovative projects is a priority in this western Cuban province this year to contribute to the country’s social and economic development.
The delegate of the Science, Technology and Environment Ministry in Matanzas province, Oscar Luis Garcia, stressed the importance of transferring knowledge to the production sector and also underscored the good performance of innovative and scientific initiatives in the region.
Garcia called to increase the number of researchers and technologists because, he said, the new companies require high-qualification professionals who are very creative.
Last year, the state business sector contributed to increase the quality of projects on joint funding actions in the areas of food security, habitat, production chains, considering science an investment instead of a source of expenses.
New territorial projects expect an increasing joint financing by both the state and companies, either state-run or from the private sector.
