Havana, Jan 21 (ACN) In tune with the Cuban program on the country demographic dynamics, authorities in western Matanzas province expect to favor over one hundred large families with homes this year.
Housing director in the province Armando Sanabria told ACN that they have approved the construction, rehabilitation, remodeling and expansion of homes for 111 mothers, fathers or tutors of three or more children.
The official said municipal governments play an important role in leading these projects since they are responsible for defining priorities in tune with the family’s housing problems.
Dorkis Armaralis is mother of five kids, one them has locomotion problems. She acknowledged the assistance she has received form months in order to enlarge her home in the city of Matanzas.
“They provided me with construction materials and I also get a monthly pay from the social assistance office,” she said.
Meanwhile, Neivis Rubier who lives with her three children and another four relatives in an apartment at the Armando Mestre neighborhood said that she has been involved in the improvement of her home for the past three years because it is too small for so many persons.
The Executive Committee of Cuba’s Council of Ministers prioritizes the granting of homes and financial resources for the construction, rehabilitation, expansion or remodeling of homes owned by mothers, fathers, tutors of three or more children (up to 17 years of age).
The initiative is part of the Program of Attention to the Country’s Demographic Dynamics and it tries to stimulate the growth of the birth rate and fertility levels.
