Quality of Veterinary Teaching in Cuba HighlightedHAVANA, Cuba, Oct 6 (acn) Sara Kahn, representative of the World Animal Health Organization (OIE), praised on Monday the quality of professional training of veterinary teaching in Cuba, indispensable to control contagious diseases in animals and in human health care.

A participant in the 14th Pan-American Congress on Veterinary Sciences, under way at Havana's Convention Center, Kahn underlined that she has worked in other countries with colleagues trained in the Caribbean island and that their professionalism is excellent.
If we take into account the quality of the training of professionals of other nations that have studied veterinary in Cuba, I would say that there's a good level and high quality education, asserted the specialist of the international organization founded in 1924.
During her keynote lecture, the OIE representative called to strengthen veterinary services top improve the control of diseases in their origin, aimed at increasing the efficiency of animal production, in the interests of human health care. In addition, she urged institutions in the world to protect, more than anything, animal production systems against the threat of the outbreak of diseases, as well as to boost biosafety measures and the responsible use of medicaments.
Kahn exhorted to promote animal health and well-being because from this, she stressed, depends the public health care and food innocuousness. She also asked governments to increase veterinary teaching levels in order to establish the early detection of the outbreaks of these diseases.
