Diaz-Canel Meets with Visiting Japanese ParliamentarianHAVANA, Cuba, Oct 3 (acn) Miguel Diaz-Canel, First Vice-president of the councils of State and Ministers, met on Friday afternoon with Keji Furuya, member of the House of Representatives of Japan and President of the Japan-Cuba Friendship Parliamentary League, who is on a working visit to the Caribbean island.

During the meeting, the two parties spoke about the good development of bilateral relations between Japan and Cuba, and about the celebration, this year, of the 400th anniversary of the visit of the first Japanese to Cuba, samurai Hasekura Tsunenaga.
Likewise, they reiterated the willingness of the two governments of working to expand economic, commercial and cooperation bonds, within the framework of the opportunities offered by the updating of the Cuban economic model, the approval of the foreign investment law, and the creation of the Mariel Special Development Zone.
The visitor was accompanied by Tomoko Abe, deputy, and Hiroshi Sato, Japan's ambassador to Havana. Cuba was also represented at the meeting by Miguel Angel Ramirez, Director for Asia and Oceania, and other officials of the Foreign Ministry.
