Havana, Dec 14 (ACN) Heads of state and government and other officials from the countries that make up the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our Americas—People’s Trade Treaty visited the Havana-based Fidel Castro Center, where they welcomed by Prime Minister Manuel Marrero.
The head of the Heritage Preservation Department at the Cuban Council of State, Alberto Alvarino, told the visitors that as the fifth anniversary of the passing of the Cuban Revolution leader was marked on November 25, the center was opened aimed at the study and spread of Fidel’s ideas, his life and work and his legacy.
The ALBA-TCP representatives toured the symbolic center 17 years after the regional organization was founded by Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez to promote integration, cooperation and solidarity.
In their statements at the ALBA-TCP Summit, held Tuesday in Havana, several leaders evoked the ideas, humanitarianism and the presence of Fidel Castro’s legacy in the achievements, programs and aspirations of the regional bloc precisely at times when the challenges facing Latin America and the Caribbean demand strong unity, solidarity and cooperation among all the nations.
