HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 9 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez will participate tomorrow, via online, in the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.
According to the Cuban Foreign Ministry, the president will deliver a speech at the event, held in the city of Almaty, in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Cuba has participated in four sessions of this Council, which is the supreme body of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and is made up of the heads of the member states of this organization. These meetings address the main issues of the EAEU’s activity, design strategies and steps to develop integration and take decisions about the achievement of the organization’s goals.
During the session held last October, Díaz-Canel highlighted the importance of cooperation, solidarity and integration to guarantee sustainable development in the member countries.
It was reported that the Minister of Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Serguey Glasiev, will travel to Cuba in the coming weeks, within the context of the second Session of the Joint Commission with the Economic Commission, to sign the Joint Collaboration Plan between Cuba and the EAEU for the period 2021-2025.
Cuba was granted EAEU Observer Status in December 2020.
