HAVANA, Cuba, Sept 29 (acn) Army General Raul Castro, President of the councils of State and Ministers, received Dr. Hifikepunye Pohamba, President of the Republic of Namibia, who is in Cuba on an official visit.
The two leaders verified the excellent state of the historic bilateral relations and reiterated the common willingness of strengthening and expanding cooperation bonds, taking as a starting point the potential existing in different sectors. The fraternal meeting, held on Monday morning, was also propitious to tackle other topics of common interest on the bilateral and international agendas.
The distinguished visitor was accompanied by Netumbo Nandi Ndaitwah, Minster of Foreign Affairs, and Jerobeam Shaanika, Namibia's ambassador to Havana.
Cuba was also represented at the meeting by Salvador Valdes, Vice-president of the Council of State; Dr. Roberto Morales, Minister of Public Health; Rogelio Sierra, acting Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Giraldo Mazola, appointed ambassador to that African country.
