Cuban eastern provinces commemorated 45th anniversary of their foundation

MANZANILLO, Cuba, Nov 8 (ACN) The National Monument La Demajagua, considered sacred altar of the homeland, where the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz created the five eastern provinces(Las Tunas, Granma, Holguin, Santiago de Cuba and Guantanamo), hosted on November 7 the central act of Granma for the 45th anniversary of the event.

Jorge Luis Broche Lorenzo, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and head of the Department of Education, Sports and Science, presided over the commemoration activity along with Federico Hernandez Hernandez, the highest representative of the political organization in the territory.

Francisco Alexis Escribano Cruz, provincial governor, congratulated the eastern people for the commemoration, while praising the commitment and unity around the continuity of the socialist project of the nation.

He called to strengthen efforts in the transformation project of neighborhoods and communities, putting the heart in front of an extremely challenging national and international reality, marked by the confrontation with the COVID-19 pandemic and the growing aggressiveness of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the US government against the island.
