Cuba's LABIOFAM Renews Cooperation Agreements with AfricaHAVANA, Cuba, Sept 26 (acn) The Business Group of Biotechnological Laboratories (LABIOFAM) renewed cooperation agreements with African nations for the control of vector-transmitted diseases, as informed at the 3rd International Congress of that entity in Havana.

This initiative, aimed at reducing the number of persons affected by malaria and dengue epidemics present in these nations, causing the death of thousands of people every year, will materialize through the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA).
FARA executive director Yemi Akinbamijo told the press that Cuba has highly qualified personnel, capable of transmitting African specialists their best experiences in the struggle against these diseases.
The President of LABIOFAM, Jose Antonio Fraga, said that his center is willing to give immediate help in aspects related to the production of natural bio-products and vaccines.
He pointed out that the culmination of the construction works of a modern plant in Tanzania will contribute to this purpose in the continent.
The 3rd International Congress of LABIOFAM wound up on Thursday.
