MATANZAS, Cuba, Sep 27 (ACN) The impact of the draft of the new Code of Families is not limited to the legal field, but extends to education because it promotes respect for diversity, condemns violence and privileges affection, said Adiel Garcia Perez, professor of the law department of the University of Matanzas.
It is a regulation that protects all family expressions, in the diversity and plurality of typologies that are present in Cuba today and, in addition, it establishes this protection in the paradigm of non-discrimination; I feel that it is very much in line with my aspirations and that it represents me, he added.
The proposal, in my opinion, stands out for being very revolutionary and faithful expression of the aspects related to Family Law present in the Constitution, it is based on values such as inclusion, equality, solidarity, responsibility and respect, Garcia Perez told the Cuban News Agency.
With this draft bill, the hopes of many same-gender couples are renewed and we will finally have access to the protection of our ties through the figure of marriage or affective union, he commented.
This project is far superior to the one currently in force because, among its most novel aspects, it allows shared custody and guardianship; it offers a broad conception of kinship that includes related relatives; it opens the possibility of concluding economic agreements in marriage and de facto affective unions, the expert exemplified.
