HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 24 (acn) The Office of the Historian of Havana is leading the refurbishing of the Capitol building to have the country's Parliament return to his original host, which was inaugurated in 1929.
This has been the largest refurbishing of the building since it was inaugurated and it includes the restoration of architectural and historic elements, said the head of the project, specialist Marilyn Mederos.
The Cuban Parliament will occupy the northern side of the building, and other areas like the library and historic places will continue to be opened to the public, the specialist said.
The refurbishing of the capitol building began in the late 2012 including patios and gardens, as well as its sculptures.
The Capitol building, and architectural copy of Washington's Capitol Hill, was raised to host the Cuban Parliament, which found its host over the past years at the Havana's Conventions Palace, to the west of the city.
