Elsa Could Approach Northern Florida as a Hurricane

Havana, July 6 (ACN) Tropical storm Elsa has strengthened on its way to the US state of Florida while it still affects Cuban regions, according to the latest advisory by the Cuban weather institute.

Over the next 12 to 24 hours, Elsa will keep traveling North gaining in intensity with possibilities to again become a hurricane before approaching the northern Florida coasts on Wednesday.

Elsa’s rains still affect the Cuban western region with rains that could be locally intense, the institute alerted.

At 6 pm Cuba local time, Elsa was located at 26.0 degrees North and 83.0 degrees West, some 230 kilometers southwest of Tampa with 110-kilometer-per hour sustained winds and higher gusts.
