HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 11 (acn) Cayo Santamaria Key, a growing tourist resort off the northern coast of Central Cuba, will be the meeting point of nearly 240 tour operators from The Americas, who will attend the 6th Convention of Copa Vacations Argentina Group, September 16 to 24.
Copa Vacations Argentina is an exclusive group of tour operators commercializing throughout tourist packages in different destinations of Copa Airlines throughout The Americas.
Melia Hotels International Company and Cuba's Gaviota Tours are the hosts to the event, which will gather professionals from Logan Travel, Siga Turismo, Solways Tours, Top Dest and Tower Travel, all tour operators linked to Copa Airlines.
Promotion executive with Melia Hotels Monica Montes said that the convention will take place at Melia Las Dunas five-star hotel, one of the facilities largely demanded on Santa Maria Key, which is to the North of Villa Clara province.
The forum will allow strengthening relations with experts from Copa Vacations Argentina, who will take a first-hand look to both local services at hotels with the Melia Company and to the attractions of Cuba as a Caribbean holiday destination.
The program includes workshops, training sessions, exhibits, recreational activities and tours of Havana and Varadero, in the western part of the island.
Melia is currently managing 26 tourist facilities in Cuba, out of which 11 are owned by Gaviota Group, 8 by Cubanacan and 7 by Gran Caribe Company.
According to official statistics, the island reported the arrival of one million 871 thousand and 615 vacationers from January to July this year, mainly from Canada, Germany, the U.K., Italy, France and Mexico.
Argentina ranks the seventh major source of tourists to Cuba with over 46 thousand 300 vacationers in the first half of the year, a figure way below 70 percent of the number reported in similar period of 2013.
