Meade Says Mexico is Interested in Strengthening Bonds with CubaHAVANA, Cuba, Sept 9 (acn) Jose Antonio Meade, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, expressed on Monday in this city his country's interest in strengthening and expanding bonds with Cuba, as part of Mexico's priorities in its relations with Latin America and the Caribbean.

During the keynote lecture he gave at the Higher Institute of Foreign Affairs, on the occasion of his visit to the island, the Mexican FM confirmed the intentions expressed by presidents Raul Castro Ruz and Enrique Peña Nieto in January, 2014, of taking bilateral bonds to higher levels.
As a result of that visit, 10 projects are being developed, linked to areas like construction, tourism and cattle raising, informed Meade at the meeting.
With respect to changes under way in Cuba, the Secretary asserted that Mexico is paying close attention to the process of updating of the economic and social model promoted in Cuba and expressed his willingness to support it.
The interest of Mexico's private sector in being part of changes taking place on the island is increasingly growing, said Meade, who arrived on Havana on Monday and will leave later to Panama and Nicaragua.
