President of PARLATINO Praises Cuba's Active Participation in his OrganizationHAVANA, Cuba, Sept 6 (acn) Deputy Elias Castillo, of Panama, president of the Latin American Parliament (PARLATINO), highlighted on Friday in this capital that Cuba has had a very active participation for several years in that legislative organ.

In statements to the press, Castillo –a participant in the meetings on Friday and Saturday of the commissions of Health and Tourism and the Environment of this regional body-, underlined the importance of the meeting in Havana, where a tribute is paid to PARLATINO on the occasion of its 50th anniversary in December.
When interviewed by ACN, the president of PARLATINO praised the Health Commission, chaired by Cuba for over 20 years now, as an acknowledgement to the level and quality of health on the island.
Likewise, he praised the organization of several meetings in Havana, where a high attendance of deputies has been guaranteed, he asserted.
He explained that attending this meeting -with Havana's Hotel Nacional as its venue- are 52 legislators of 16 parliaments, who debate, among other topics, the impact of the Ebola fever virus, the use of filling substances with aesthetic purposes, and the protection of coastal ecosystems, mangrove swamps and woods.
Composed of 23 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, PARLATINO has 13 work commissions and is aimed at facing the serious crises existing in the fields of the economy, food, finances, energy, the environment and security, the impacts of which affect the majority of the population in the region, he concluded.
