MATANZAS, Cuba, Apr 8 (ACN) A large-scale mural that will honor red and black, the allegorical colors of both the revolutionary 26th of July Movement and the rank of Commander in Chief, is being prepared in one of the tallest buildings in this city.
Designed by artist and cultural promoter Jesús Alberto Mederos, the project is in the hands of the ArtDeco Artistic Creation Group of the Cuban Fund for Cultural Assets and the Extreme Verticals Company of Santiago de Cuba.
Mederos told ACN that the mural includes a sizable luminous star and images of the Sierra Maestra Mountains. Besides, there will be a soccer playground for children at the base of the building in memory of Commander Fidel Castro, who was a devoted lover and promoter of generalized sports practice.
“Those who walk through the air corridor over the city of Matanzas will certainly appreciate the colors of the homeland, and displaying the rank of Commander in Chief in highly visible place is a dream come true and a legacy for future generations,” he added.
Argelio García, Mederos’s representative, pointed out that the monumental work placed at a height of about 40 meters is an artistic salute to the VIII Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba.
