Brain Awareness Week: 10 Ideas to Face COVID 19

Havana, Feb 26 (ACN) On the occasion of the Brain Awareness Week to be marked March 15-21, the Cuban Society for Neuroscience launched a call to observe the date considering ten suggestions to face the coronavirus pandemic.

The idea is to connect Cubans interested in neuroscience-related knowledge which helps cushion the impact on mental health by the pandemic and isolation measures, said Doctor Nibaldo Hernandez, president of the Cuban Society for Neuroscience.

The ten suggestions encouraging resistance to chronic diseases and the COVID-19 are related to nourishment, caloric restriction with daily food requirements, drinking enough water and preparation of mucus for the protection of the respiratory system.

Sun-provided vitamin D helps fight infections, while breathing, relaxation and meditation increase immunity, according to Havana’s medical sciences university.

Suggestions also include good peaceful rest and dream hygiene which increases immunological activity; taking physical exercises, which activate the immunologic system, emotion and joy controlling anguish.


This way you can keep your mind active to discover the positive aspects of everyday life, which usually get out of focus due to the stress caused by the pandemic.

The Brain Awareness Week is a global campaign encouraging enthusiasm and support to the science of the brain and it’s coordinated by the Dana Foundation, set up in 1950 in New York by Charles A. Dana along with his wife Eleanor Naylor Dana.

The couple originally promoted cancer research programs, higher education and arts by the last ten years of the 20th century, were declared the Brain Awareness Decade, from that point on the Dana foundation began to promote the Brain Awareness Week every March.
