Cuban Vice-president Receives Distinction in ColombiaHAVANA, Cuba, Aug 8 (acn) Cuban Vice-president and general comptroller Gladys Bejerano was granted the Medal to the Merit for the Transparency of Fiscal Control in Colombia, where she is heading the island's delegation to the swearing-in ceremony for President Juan Manuel Santos.

Colombia's Comptroller Sandra Morelli gave the distinction to her Cuban counterpart at a ceremony in the centrally located hotel, in recognition to the results of her work, according to PL news agency.

Upon receiving the distinction, Bejerano gave a brief presentation on the antecedents of the Cuban Comptroller's Office, its performance and objectives. She said that the results obtained thus far and the prestige gained by her institution encourages further work to guarantee higher efficiency in the control activity, particularly in times when the Cuban economic model is being updated.

The two officials also held a private meeting to address issues of common interest and they referred to the need to expand the exchange of experiences between their offices.
