HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 13 (ACN) Cuba ratified its commitment to the Group of 77 and China, which held virtually its 44th ministerial meeting.
So was stated by Cuba's Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodriguez, during his speech at the forum, which issue was 'The global response to the Covid-19 pandemic and the obstacles it poses for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals.'
Cuba's FM urged to continue strengthening the unity and leadership of the Group in pursuit of multilateralism, the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter, solidarity and international cooperation, which he considered essential in these times.
Rodriguez also made reference to the current global crisis, exacerbated by Covid-19 and its socio-economic effects, which hit developing countries particularly hard, accentuates inequalities and deepens external debt.
He thanked the permanent support of the members of the G77 in the fight for the lifting of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade, currently tightened by Washington despite the pandemic.
