Cubans return from Nicaragua

HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 24 (ACN) A group of 180 Cubans who were visiting or on personal business in Nicaragua returned to Cuba on Monday as part of the government's efforts to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.

According to a statement made on Twitter by Ernesto Soberon, director general of consular affairs and Cuban residents abroad at the foreign ministry, the nationals are welcome in the country and will join the struggle of the Cuban people in the COVID-19 confrontation.
The return of this group responds to the call made by the Cuban president, Miguel Diaz-Canel, at the Mesa Redonda TV show last Friday, where he announced that all Cubans who wish to return home from anywhere in the world can do so.
Last March 20, the country's top authorities reported on the regulation of the borders and the impossibility, starting this Tuesday and for 30 days, of allowing tourists to enter the national territory.
