HAVANA, Dec 11 (ACN) The official delivery ceremony of the second project of the Japanese Government's Economic and Social Development Program for Cuba was held at Havana´s Provincial Waste Collection and Disposal Unit.
Through this project, Japan donated equipment worth approximately 10 million dollars to the Havana City Council, contributing to the sanitation of the city.
Kazuhiro Fujimira, Japan's ambassador to Cuba, pointed out the significant economic and material losses caused by natural disasters in Cuba, so the introduction and implementation of these kits will have a very positive impact on many people' lives.
We are starting this project in a very important year, both for Havana and for the relations of both countries; Havana celebrated its 500th anniversary, and Japan and Cuba celebrated the 90th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, Fujimira stressed.
For his part, Onelio de Jesus Ojeda, director of communal services in Havana, remarked the gratitude for the donations made by the government and the people of Japan to Cuba´s capital and stated that with these new machines we will increase levels of collection and will also improve the sanitary conditions of the city.
