Famous Argentine expert praises benefits of health system in Cuba

SANCTI SPIRITUS, Cuba, Dec 5 (acn) The benefits of the health system in Cuba were exalted in this city by Argentine Dr. Guillermo Zambosco, president of the Foundation for the development of maternal and child health that bears his name.

Zambosco gave several lectures at the First Cuba-Argentina Neonatology Meeting, based in this Cuban central city, with the aim of updating medical procedures in the care of newborns with different types of serious illnesses.
Unlike other countries such as mine, Cuba - with limited resources - provides health services to all people equally, regardless of their social, ethnic or ideological status, the head of the Neonatology Unit of the Italian Hospital in La Plata, Argentina, told ACN.
It is very important that as Cuba does, all people receive the health services they need without having to suffer financial hardships to achieve them, said the visitor, who added that the Caribbean island has a well trained and motivated health personnel.
Dr. Manuel Lopez, responsible for the Morbidity Committee in the Neonatology Room of the Camilo Cienfuegos general hospital in the province of Sancti Spiritus, said that this year, the survival of children in that facility exceeds 97 percent and the infant mortality rate is 2.2 deaths per thousand live births, while in the entire province, one of the most prominent in the country, that indicator is 3.4.
According to several participants in the forum, the experiences transmitted in it were very useful for the care of the newborn and achieve success in the treatment of the infants
