HAVANA, Dec 4 (ACN) Cuban experience in the application of the Environmental Bases for Local Food Sustainability (BASAL) Project can be implemented in Latin America and the Caribbean, Maribel Gutierrez, Resident Representative of the UN Development Program (UNDP), recommended today.
For us, the implementation of knowledge management, good practices and technology transfer are vital, as is the case of Cuba in its BASAL project, especially in its closest neighbors in the English-speaking Caribbean that need it so much," the official told ACN.
Gutierrez is one of the foreign personalities invited to the 3rd BASAL Annual Workshop, running in Cuba from 2012 to 2019, which began its sessions at Havana´s Hotel Nacional de Cuba and will last until next Friday.
A panel on the impact of BASAL on strategic plans in the agricultural sector and another on sustainable food production marked the opening day of the meeting.
