HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 2 (acn) Organized by the Faculty of Communication of the University of Havana, the 10th International Meeting of Researchers and Academics of Information and Communication, ICOM 2019, will run from today until next Friday.
Representatives from more than 15 countries, such as Ecuador, Brazil, Mexico and Cuba will meet at the Havana´s Conventions Palace in order to discuss about Info-communication, citizenship and social change and innovative agendas for a new development.
About 300 works will run in commissions, and there will be five general panels, a round table and two keynote lectures every day.
ICOM 2019 will bring together experts of recognized international prestige, including Spanish sociologist Manuel Castells, in charge today of the inaugural conference on political communication and power in the current scenarios.
Parallel to the scientific program, an exhibition fair will take place in the same venue for the communication institutions to show the best of their services and products.
According to PhD. Hilda Saladrigas, president of the Organizing Committee, the current hegemonic paradigm demands an alternative development and imposes thinking and sharing reflections on the role of Information and Communication; hence the importance of ICOM 2019.
